To say I grew up in Retail, would not be an exaggeration! My Mother owned a Pappagallo shoe store in Winooski, Vermont where I worked after school and on weekends.
In high school she invited me to tag along on a NYC buying trip…I was hooked! I fell in love with the hustle & bustle of the BIG City. After college I moved to the Upper West Side of Manhattan & in 1991 I opened my first store on the corner of 72nd and Columbus. It was a little 300 square foot jewel box of a store. It was soooo small we would deliver new clothing every morning, and it would be gone by the close of business.
Our business model was BORN. Deliver fresh new merchandise EVERY DAY. Buy to Scarcity.
No one wants to walk into a room in the same outfit as a friend…or worse a stranger! Maybe even triggering those who wore it better comparisons!
